CALL FOR PROPOSALS for Accelerated Research on 6G eco-system
India is a bright spot in the world’s economy, and the telecom sector with a mammoth telecom subscriber base of around 1.17 billion is the brightest spot in India. To reap the benefits of cutting-edge technology, the 5G network has rapidly expanded to more than 700 districts across India, with over 4 lakh 5G BTS, elevating India's digitalization and connectivity to unprecedented levels. This has been the fastest technology roll-out in our country.
In furthering the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister to lead in the design, development and deployment of 6G technology by 2023, a document on "Bharat 6G Vision" has been released on March 22, 2023. Bharat 6G Vision is based on principles of Affordability, Sustainability and Ubiquity. It ensures that India takes its rightful place in the world as a leading supplier of advanced telecom technologies and solutions that are affordable and contribute to the global good.
To foster India's prominence in 6G technology, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) invites proposals from academia/industry(consortium-based), and other bodies engaged in R&D for setting up of Accelerated Research Lab on 6G and contribute to the future technologies.
